During my internship at Jabuticasa, I was actively involved in every stage of the Gringa Chair development, from the initial brainstorming and conceptual phase to observing the manufacturing process. Thiago Antonelli served as the creative director, Thelvyo Veiga as the production director, Loic Corthals as the product design intern, and I contributed as the graphic design intern, focusing primarily on research, gathering references, and supporting the conceptual development.

Inspired by the street chairs from Rio de Janeiro venues, the Gringa Chair is made of solid Tauari wood and manufactured using traditional carpentry techniques. The legs and seat are constructed of solid wood, with the final finish applied manually. Each piece of the chair is unique, with a distinct pattern and tone that varies.

"The Cadeira Gringa by Jabuticasa fuses traditional craftsmanship with contemporary design, born from a deep-rooted appreciation for both local culture and global perspectives. Conceived by the renowned design duo Thiago Antonelli and Thélvio Veiga, in collaboration with emerging talents Loic Corthals and Carolina Bonani, the chair captures the essence of Rio de Janeiro’s nostalgic charm and its vibrant culture, while embracing a fresh, youthful energy and global influences."
